Technical Director

General Summary:  The ideal Technical Director will spend approximately 50% of their time on project management and 50% on technical related research and decisions for Tavistock’s Lake Nona Town Center which is currently under development.  This role will work within the Dais Technologies team.   This position uses expert level knowledge of multiple technology platforms and project management skills to lead the decision and implementation process for this large development.

Initial Focus:

  • Develop an overall technical framework for development; which includes infrastructure, fiber, systems, solutions and providers that are in alignment with brand and business requirements.
  • Develop a comprehensive project plan which will provide milestones, key decision dates, integration of plans and ensure on time deliverables.
  • Ensure the technology roadmap developed for the Lake Nona Town Center is fully integrated and sustainable.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop overarching standards to guide technology decisions
  • Work with company teams on integration of technology decisions with portfolio architecture
  • Interact with Dais Technologies to ensure fiber, low volt and other requirements are delivered to specifications
  • Responsible for partnering with Development Executive to develop and consistently report on spend to budget
  • Manage the process to develop system scope requirements, solicit bids and select vendors and / or consultants
  • Ensure operational readiness of solutions by conducting technical reviews to assure that implementations align with initial solution
  • Maintain strong relationships and ensure collaborative communication with key stakeholders, including brand experience, development, construction and retail partners
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends in technology as it relates to mixed use development
  • Develop and implement procedures and guidelines for prequalifying contractors and consultants
  • Negotiate agreement terms, conditions and scope for contracts and consulting assignments
  • Manage an integrated milestone schedule for all system implementations
  • Provide technical expertise and quality assurance during implementation process
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in project management
  • Advanced PMI and / or Six Sigma certification
  • Extensive experience in working with development / projects which involve multiple systems / partners with integration as a must
  • Ability to see patterns and relationships between technologies, processes, and business models
  • Strong knowledge of fiber, low volt work and high-volume implementations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical, and non-technical teams across the organization
  • Demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, strategic planning, and process management skills
  • Ability to see end to end processes and articulate the same
  • Proven ability to successfully manage vendor relationships
