Low Voltage Design Technician

General Summary: The Low Voltage Design Technician (LV Design Technician) will contribute to Dais Holdings, LCC’s mission by applying their expertise to generate Low Voltage & A/V Design plans in a timely manner.  The LV Design Technician will work with sales and installation teams to ensure accurate installation documents.  The LV Design Technician will recommend alterations to design to improve quality of products, to react to changes or to resolve interoperability issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, layout and design technology systems, including voice, data, structured cabling (horizontal and vertical), audio visual, site and building security, CCTV (DVR/NVR), access control, intrusion detection, smart building technologies and other low-voltage systems, to facilitate permits and adherence to industry standards
  • Apply system and product knowledge for the design, BOM development, implementation and programming of residential and commercial business A/V, voice, data, security, building automation for low voltage systems, particularly using Crestron, Extron, Lutron, Pyng, and other industry standard A/V systems
  • Use computer aided design software tools to create and edit concept drawings, proposals, and base configuration and pricing
  • Determine resources (labor, time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project

  • Recommend ideas to improve competitiveness

  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Systems Management, Telecommunications preferred
  • Vendor upgrade training and certification desired
  • Industry certifications (BICSI, NICET) desired
  • Minimum of 3 years low voltage system design and installation experience
  • Strong design understanding for low voltage and A/V systems and deliverables
  • Familiar with standard horizontal and vertical fiber optic cable and copper wire infrastructure, gigabit transport, building control systems, Wi-Fi, low voltage lighting security and access control, dynamic message signs, commercial grade A/V
  • Must understand construction drawings and industry standard terminology
  • Proficient in computer aided design tools; Visio and d-tools preferred, AutoCAD or MicroStation useful
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN
